The PONO (Preparing Our Neighbors and ‘Ohana to Build Resilient Communities) program is currently offering two FREE educational opportunities for learning about Emergency and Disaster Preparedness in Maui County this year. Click on the images or visit the webpages for more information.

- The Disaster Preparedness Training program for Teens provides hands-on training following the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) but has been adapted for teens. It includes all of the knowledge and skills provided in the adult training including: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Triage and First Aid, and Search and Rescue.
Teens will also participate in a final simulation that allows them to demonstrate their skills. - The Emergency Preparedness Workshop is a FREE community-based training for adults, families (up to 4), or youth over 13 years old.
Participants who complete the full 5 hour workshop will receive plants, emergency supplies, and other resources. Participants will learn about Preparing Your Home through firewise landscaping and take home free plants; Emergency Planning by starting an emergency kit that you can complete at home with supplies you receive at the workshop; Hands-on Skills for First Aid and putting out fires; and Managing Stress with ways to cope with the stress related to disasters.
